The walking: Let us organise you on this Drovers Mountain Trek in Angus, East Perthshire and Deeside. An experienced and knowledgeable mountain leader will guide hikers along two atmospheric and scenic old drove trails and via three Munros*.

Length: 2 days/1 night
Grade 4: Walkers should be fit and prepared for some strenuous hiking

Drovers Walking Break itinerary

Day 1: Monega Path Auchavan to Auchallater, via the Monega Path, 24km/15miles Meeting in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, a minibus will transport you to the start of the walk. The walk starts in Glen Isla at Auchavan, and follows the River Isla back towards its source in Caenlochan Glen. After a climb, we detour via the Munros of Glas Maol, Cairn of Claise and Carn an Tuirc, then drop down into Glen Clunie. You will then be transposted to your accommodation in Braemar for the night.

Day 2: Auchallater to Glen Doll, via Jock's Road, 22km/13miles Transport to the start of Jock's Road. This fabulous walk passes picturesque Loch Callater before a steep climb out of the glen to 953m where the panoramic views can be enjoyed. Then it's a drop down into Glen Doll, keeping an eye out for those elusive eagles and ghosts on the way! Transport from Glen Doll back to Blairgowrie.

* A Munro is a Scottish hill with a summit of more than 3000ft/914m. There are 14 Munros in the Angus Glens, many of which are claimed as some of the easiest of all the 283 Munros. Indeed, it was local walker Sir Hugh Munro, of Lindertis, near Kirriemuir, who first documented the Munros list.
